Weekend of Weddings, Part II

July 24 - 25

Busy, busy, busy week shooting video weddings and finalizing same week DVDs for brides. Happy to say this weekend was a success! Chris & Crystal celebrated their day with a huge family wedding at Horseshoe Resort in Barrie, ON. John & Julie shared their day with a small group of family and friends in a quiet ceremony at a golf course. The party sizes couldn't have been more different, but the sentiment was the same at both events. Joy.

Weekend of Weddings, Part I

July 16, 17 & 18

How much love can you fit into three days? Two weddings and an engagement session in one weekend! Amber & Dave got married on Friday at the Southshore Centre in Barrie, ON. Brittany & David said their vows atop the mountains at Blue Mountain Resort in Collingwood, ON on Saturday. And we captured some amazing engagement photos of Somar & Jim along the Barrie waterfront on Sunday. We love shooting wedding photos and video and are huge fans of all three locations! We met some incredible people this weekend and created some wonderful memories in the process. We love what we do! Wedding video and photos to come...

Sunnidale Park, Barrie

After two rain delays for this photo engagement shoot, we ended up with perfect evening weather! Sunnidale Park is "the" place for wedding photography in Barrie. Every Saturday you will find numerous wedding photographers, brides, grooms and bridal parties scattered throughout the park. It offers fantastic opportunities for photographic images, which is why Erin & Joel selected the park for their engagement session. They won this package after attending last year's Timpano Bridal Show. We will be in attendance at the 2010 Timpano Show at Georgian Downs in September, so mark it on your schedule. We'd love to see you there!

Stunning! Simply stunning!   Kim radiated beauty in her Vera Wang gown atop the hills of Blue Mountain Resort in Collingwood, ON.  Chadwick & Kim were a breathtaking couple! Rarely do you find such gorgeous people, inside and out!   This was an absolutely perfect day and never were two people more deserving.   It was such an honour to be a part of their special day!   Check out the wedding video in our gallery!

The smell of delicious food, courtesy of Rotisserie To Go in Newmarket, ON, and warm Tim Horton's coffee filled the air at this Victoria Village wedding in Barrie, ON. The venue never looked more beautiful on this rainy Saturday in June.  Perhaps, because of the lovely bride and groom gracing it's presence.  Jenn & Greg were a joy to film! It's so nice to shoot wedding videos when you get the opportunity to work with such a great couple.  Check out their highlight reel in the video section of our gallery!

"You're bound to lose a few Storm Troopers in battle." There's a quote we never thought we'd hear ourselves say after a wedding. Well, such is the case, when the groom and groomsmen are sporting Darth Vader and Storm Trooper cufflinks, and one of the Troopers goes MIA.

We had a blast working with Sarah and Kevin! They are an amazing couple with a hilarious sense of humor. The wedding was out of this world! We posted a few of our favourite shots and a highlight video in the Wedding Gallery. Take a look!

What a beautiful Saturday in May! Kim & Derek were so much fun to work with! We had a blast and got some great shots in the process. Downtown Barrie is always a nice location to create timeless portraits, with its classic architecture and unique alleyways. This was our second photo session with Kim & Derek (we shot their engagement session in the fall). It is always ideal to work with a couple prior to their wedding because it gives the photographer and the couple a chance to get to know each other before the main event. We are thrilled to know such a wonderful couple and wish them all the best in this next chapter of their love story.

Spring has sprung!

Spring cleaning at Darlington Studios has begun! We're in the process of renovating our photography studio. We can hardly wait for the finished product. It's such an exciting time of year, with summer weddings just around the corner. This looks like it's going to be an exceptional wedding season! We don't want to gloat, but we are convinced that our clients are the best. Enjoy the warmer weather and all that spring has to offer! Don't forget to spring forward this weekend!

As a studio that specializes in wedding photography and family portraits, this is definitely one of our favourite Canadian weekends. Any weekend that asks people to set time aside to celebrate love and family, must be applauded. This year is truly exciting for us because this is our first Family Day with our newborn son. Who could ask for a better Valentine?

We're gearing up for wedding season, taking appointments and booking dates. It's so rewarding to be able to do what you love and be a part of such memorable family events. It's been a busy few weeks here at Darlington Studios - juggling wedding photography meetings, maternity photo sessions, commercial video shoots and parenthood.  It's an exciting time, full of promise and opportunity.

We're really looking forward to the coming months.  In addition to the awesome wedding season outlook, we're planning to remodel the photography studio in the Spring.  Spoiler alert... this could mean a discount family portrait day in the foreseeable future.  We'll keep you posted.

Timpano Bridal Show

We were so impressed with all the great brides-to-be that weathered the winter storm to attend the bridal show and stop at our booth!  White out conditions, black ice and minus 25 degree weather isn't enough to stop a good Canadian bride from attending Barrie's best bridal show!

On a cool, sunny autumn day we met Rob & Michelle at her family’s farm, a place full of childhood memories and seemingly endless photographic possibilities. I was so excited to shoot and explore the natural beauty of the farm, with its mix of multi-coloured barns filled with various materials and textures.

As a Barrie photographer, we are blessed with an awe-inspiring landscape that is unparalleled to any other area. My goal with this and every session is to capture each couple’s essence. To accomplish this, I efficiently orchestrate candid moments and avoid spending a lot of time posing.

It was such a pleasure to spend the afternoon with such a fun-loving, easygoing couple like Rob & Michelle. It is completely obvious that they are enamoured with one another. They were an absolute joy to shoot!

Stephen & Tammy got Married!

Stephen and Tammy were married at Tangle Creek Golf Club in Barrie on July 24th, 2009. The day was filled with laughter and tears of family and friends, sharing in this eventful union of two wonderful people. The weather was a big question mark, but luckily for us, we got a couple of hours rain free. We toured the grounds on our six seater golf cart, stopping at some truly picturesque spots. Tammy and Stephen were beaming the whole day and were the quintessential happy couple. Overall, it turned out to be a perfect day!
 

Wedding Season is Here

This is our busiest month of wedding photography in Barrie this summer.  We shot a beautiful and touching ceremony between Tammy Zilney and James Faubert last weekend at Willow Creek Baptist.  It is easy to create great wedding videos in Barrie because of all the natural beauty we are blessed with here.

We recently had the opportunity to work with some great local businesses here in Barrie. Bamboo Bebe has some of the softest baby clothes you will ever feel and the best part is they are all natural. Colour Something Creative is a very creative graphic designer who puts together exceptional books, pamphlets and all kinds of other layouts.

Newborns are always so cute and such a blessing.  I love it when we get the opportunity to meet these tiny little guys and gals.  However, Nathaniel isn't so tiny for a two week old, he was over 9 lbs when he was born and is still getting bigger.

Tim & Jaslyn's Awesome Wedding Day

We got an unexpected blast of winter wind and snow for Tim & Jaslyn's spring wedding in Bradford, Ontario.  That didn't stop us from getting stunning images and having fun doing it.  They were both very brave in the face of a minus eight degree wind chill.  Working with these two incredible individuals and capturing a portion of thier obvious love for each other was an unforgettable experience.

Fund Raising for the Canadian Cancer Society

Despite Barrie's first blizzard, the event was a total success. Friends and family gathered to celebrate Carolyn Ovell's remission. What an amazing testament to the power of the human spirit! It was a full house and everyone was in a giving mood (over $2000 raised). It was an honour to be a part of this incredible night!
