It all started five years ago with a glance and a drink at a local bar in Burlington, Ontario. We were able to recapture a few moments of that famous love story for their hometown engagement session last September. Fast forward a few months later to their wedding day. Kate + Brad planned their celebratory weekend up at Port Cunnington Lodge after falling in love at first sight with the resort. That view. That bay. Being a May wedding, you would think it would be a kick off to warm summer weather; however, the forecast had other plans. The frigid temperatures were reminiscent of a winter wedding, some of the cabins even lost power during preparation, but none of it mattered. Kate + Brad were ecstatic to say “yes” and celebrate being in the same room with everyone they love. This is their wedding story.
We love Muskoka weddings! We met the the guys in the “Redwing” cottage, as they finished suiting up. Then, headed over to see the ladies at the “Titmouse” cottage down the lane. Kate slipped into her vintage-inspired, lace gown. To complete her classic look, she wore her grandmother’s treasured pearl necklace. Kate + Brad were hoping for a lakeside ceremony on the dock, but the rainy weather called for an indoor the ceremony inside the charming barn on the hill. As Brad later recounted in his speech, the feeling he had as he watched Kate walk down the aisle, was indescribable! She was stunning. The guests gathered on the patio outside the barn for a group photo. Mercifully, the shower turned to a sprinkle for the creative session, enabling us to go down to the dock with Kate + Brad. Kate even changed into her CBs (Cowboy Boots) for a few photos. After capturing a few moments with the couple by the waterfront, we walked up the path for the reception at the main Lodge. Kate + Brad kicked of the evening’s festivities with their first dance immediately following thire grand entrance. Dinner flowed into toasts, parent dances and the final speech by the newlyweds. Then, it was time to let loose and party!
