Happy New Year! Jessie + Mike are a perfect picture of a successful office romance. The two were were married in a candlelit ceremony on New Year’s Eve among their family and friends. This is their wedding story.

PREPARATION

We started the day at Jessie’s parent’s farm near Stayner, Ontario. Jessie’s mother helped zip her into the gorgeous, fitted wedding gown, with a stunning draped neckline. Her father appeared from the other room to see her in the dress and gave her a huge hug. Jessie, calm and poised, sat to read a letter from her husband-to-be. Then, we headed outdoors, in the frigid air, for some family portraits before making our way to Barrie to meet the gentlemen.

The Ladies

The guys were dressed and ready to go. We spent a few moments with the men and Mike’s mom, as they shared stories about the groom and his love for Jessie. Then, we traveled by caravan to the Barrie Country Club for the first look.

CREATIVE SESSION

We arrived at the Barrie Country Club, a few hours before the ceremony, to capture the first moment Jessie + Mike would see each other on their special day. We love first looks because it gives a couple a chance to see each other in a more intimate setting.

After the first look, we took the bridal party outside for a moment. It was bitterly cold, but everyone was happy to venture out. Once the immediate family members arrived, we headed over to the reception room for an indoors family photo session.

CEREMONY

Family and friends gathered in the ceremony room, as a string trio serenaded the guests. Mike stood at the front of the aisle, among beautifully lit trees, anticipating the moment when his bride would stand by his side. Their good friends sang a stirring rendition of “Auld Lang Syne,” as Jessie was escorted down the aisle by her proud father. Jessie + Mike shared their vows, exchanged rings and kissed. All the guests were overjoyed, as they were pronounced husband and wife!

RECEPTION

The ceremony room was quickly transformed into a cozy lounge for cocktail hour. Televisions played a hockey game for the guests to watch, as they snacked on yummy finger foods. A receiving line formed, and guests were asked to add a personalized, important date to a calendar before making their way into the dazzling reception hall. Clocks and candles, and gold and black decor, graced each table. Balloons were on the ceiling above the dance floor, and party hats and streamers were on a side table, in preparation for the evening’s events.

In between dinner courses, parents and the bridal party toasted the happy couple. After Jessie + Mike thanked the guests for coming to their celebration, the two headed over to the sweet table to cut the cake. Once the cake was cut, Jessie + Mike made their way to the dance floor for a joint parent dance, and their first dance as husband and wife. Then, it was time to party! The DJ pumped up the crowd with fun, dance tunes and everyone joined the couple on the dance floor. It was a great way to start the New Year!
