Wedding Photography Fusion at Drysdale Tree Farms

Andrew + Monica | Wedding Photography in Alliston, ON

Actually, we’d been looking forward to this day for quite some time now. Two years ago, we met Monica (and family) at the wedding of her sister, Christina, and we instantly adored them. When it was time for Monica to tie the knot, she contacted us, and we were thrilled! Not only would we get to capture her amazing wedding to an amazing guy, but we would get to spend the whole day with old friends… and meet new ones! Bonus! This is the Snydski wedding story.

PREPARATION
We met Andrew at his parent’s farm near Alliston, where it all began. The Snyder farm was the exact spot Andrew chose to pop the question to Monica. Amongst the trees, in the tiki lantern lit forest, Monica said “Yes!” Fast forward to their wedding day…

Andrew shared a teary-eyed toast with his Dad before suiting up. He put on his vest, straightened his tie, and got into his shoes and jacket. Andrew was ready to greet his bride.

Monica was finishing her hair and make-up in the next town. She headed over to her parent’s home, and with the help of Christina and their mother, slipped into her lovely lace and tulle mermaid gown. She could hardly wait to see her husband-to-be.

CEREMONY
The ceremony was held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Alliston, ON. Monica walked down the aisle, escorted by her proud father, to join Andrew at the altar. After prayers, scripture readings and the homily, Andrew + Monica recited their vows and exchanged rings. They kissed and were pronounced Mr. & Mrs. Andrew Snyder.

CREATIVE
We met Andrew & Monica back at the Snyder farm, and revisited the proposal spot in the woods. We walked all around the property and got some great photos of the couple and their bridal party (between brief rain showers). The sky (a mix of dark and orange clouds, sprinkled with bursts of sunlight) looked amazing due to the mixed weather. In fact, later that evening at sunset, a double rainbow appeared overhead. Beauty!

We made our way over to Drysdale Tree Farms for family portraits. We made use of the beautiful photo wall, designed by Andrew + Monica, complete with ornate frames and elegant settees. Not only did their guests enjoy this masterpiece, we were able to get some fun portraits of their loved ones. Guests milled about at the bar, and snacked on tasty treats, while we finished the creative session. Time for the grand entrance.

RECEPTION
Books! Books! Books! The theme for the reception was books. Why? Well, because Andrew loves books. In fact, when Andrew + Monica entered the room for their first dance, the song of choice was Peter Gabriel’s “Book of Love.” With lyrics like “I love it when you read to me. And you, you can read me anything,” – it was the perfect song choice for this wedding’s theme.

The backdrop for the head table was a hand constructed (by the Snyder men and brother-in-law, Stephen Webber) library of shelved books with the caption “A true love story never ends” etched across the top. Bookshelves were strategically placed around the room with classic novels, a shelving cart was set behind the podium to house finished Mad Lib-style stories from the guest tables, and a wooden card catalog was placed at the entrance directing guests to their respective tables. Each carefully, planned detail added such character to their day.

Once dinner was served, formal toasts and songs began. Monica, her Mom, sisters and their good friends are truly gifted musicians. We could hardly wait to hear what they had in store for entertainment. Monica’s sisters sang a parody of “Doo Wah Diddy” to the couple, and Monica’s mother sang a sentimental rendition of “What A Wonderful World,” as Monica and her father danced. Andrew and his mother graced the dance floor with their Mother-Son dance, which was followed by an anniversary dance to celebrate the grandparents. Once formal dances ended, the floor was open! Time to party! Dance fever hit, as DJ Jim pumped up the tunes. An ice cream truck parked outside to offer guests delicious, creamy treats in a cone or cup. Between the exciting music, dance circles and yummy desserts, people couldn’t help but have a great time!
