Katie + Scott | Wedding Photography in Barrie, ON

Katie + Scott are a beautiful couple.  One can tell, simply by watching the way they interact with one another or steal a look, that the two are madly in love.  Theirs is a love that melts your heart from the instant you meet them.  This is their wedding story.

PREPARATION
Typically, we start preparation with the groom, and then make our way over to the bride’s location.  However, because the ceremony was taking place in the backyard of the father of the groom’s home (where Scott was getting ready), we decided to switch things up a bit and visit Katie (the bride) first.

We met Katie at her friend’s house, where she and the ladies were getting their hair and make-up done.  They all looked radiant, as they excitedly chatted, and pumped up the bride with pep talks for the big day.  We got some shots of Katie’s gorgeous, strapless, layered gown and stunning red shoes (with a bedazzled “I Do” on the heel).  We love Katie… and her red shoes.  Remember, she wore red shoes in the engagement session, too? Love!  Red, the colour of love, was the dominant colour scheme for the wedding (red roses filled the floral arrangements, even the bridal party rocked red accents!).

Katie paused for a moment to open a care package from her beloved groom-to-be.  Inside, were a few pickle treats, a note and an old love letter Scott had saved. After gazing at the love letter from Scott (and a few happy tears), she started upstairs and was laced into her dress by her bridesmaids and a family friend.  She was picture perfect.

We headed outside, and a few minutes down the road, to Scott’s family’s home, a beautiful and expansive piece of land located in Innisfil, ON.  We spent a few moments with Scott, then explored the property, until the bride arrived for the ceremony.

CEREMONY
It was a gorgeous, sunny afternoon when Katie + Scott were married. As Katie made her way to the arbor to meet her groom (escorted by her father and step-father), both bride and groom couldn’t fight back the tears.  They could hardly wait to state their intentions and declare their love for one another.  Through tears, they shared their tender, personalized vows, exchanged rings and kissed.  The guests were invited to participate in a champagne toast to celebrate the newlywed couple at the end of the ceremony.  Everyone cheered, as Katie + Scott traveled down the mason jar (filled with baby’s breath) lined path as husband and wife.

CREATIVE SESSION
The couple requested a few minutes to mingle with the guests after the ceremony.  Once they greeted their loved ones, we walked around the side of the house for family portraits.

Then, the bridal party jumped in the limo, and we all went on a mini adventure through the Barrie side streets and industrial area, for photos with the couple and their bridal party.  We, even, managed to find a few moments for Katie + Scott to practice their salsa-inspired first dance.

RECEPTION
We made our way to the Southshore Community Centre,  conveniently located alongside the Barrie waterfront. Katie + Scott asked for all the guests to form a line on either side of the room to create a tunnel for the grand entrance.  Amid cheers and shouts of joy, the bridal party entered the room dancing to the latest tunes.  After the bride and groom “Dougied” into the room, they transitioned into their first dance, a mash-up of Christina Perri and salsa.  All the guests were asked to be seated, and dinner commenced.  Each table was adorned with wine and honey (both hand-crafted by the bride and groom). In between courses, friends regaled the audience with fun memories of the couple to incite a kiss, and formal speeches were made.

At sunset, we popped outdoors to capture a few portraits with Katie + Scott at the waterfront, and in front of the Southshore Centre (which happens to be a special place for the couple, their love story and Scott’s family history).  A few more speeches were made, then it was time to cut the cake and share a cupcake.  Parent dances soon followed, to set the dance party off.  You could tell everyone was having an incredible night!

THANKS
Thank you Katie + Scott for allowing us to be a part of your family’s celebration!  It truly was a remarkable day!  We wish you both all the best life has to offer.
