Wedding Photography at MacLaren Art Centre in Barrie

Evan + Lacey | Wedding Photography Fusion in Barrie, ON

Evan + Lacey are married!  YAY!!!  We have been eagerly anticipating this day, since the first moment they asked to capture their wedding day!  We knew it was going to be a great day for a few reasons.  First, Evan + Lacey rock the house (Seriously, Evan is a brilliant home renovator, who does outstanding work. Literally, they rock the house!). Second, they have impeccable taste in friends (Jen + Darren, Shelley + Ian … the list goes on). And third, they chose to celebrate their big event at the MacLaren Art Centre, a vibrant public art museum located right in downtown Barrie.

We first met Evan + Lacey back in February 2011 at the snow-capped wedding of Jen + Darren at Hockley Valley Resort in Orangeville, ON.  We ran into them several months later, while capturing the summer wedding of Shelley + Ian at Horseshoe Valley Resort in Barrie.  When it came time to choose a photographer for their wedding day, we were so honoured that Evan + Lacey asked us to document their special occasion.  We knew it would be a wonderful day, and a fun time of reuniting with our good friends.

We started the day with the guys at Evan + Lacey’s gorgeous, newly renovated home.  When we arrived, the two dads were outside bonding and waxing the upscale vehicles for the day. Lacey would arrive in a BMW, and Evan would drive up in a metallic, gray Corvette.  Evan gelled his hair, then put on his suit and tie.  He was ready!  Izzy, their fun-loving dog, greeted Evan with doggie kisses and a handshake, before heading out to play fetch.

We arrived at Shelley + Ian’s home to meet Lacey and the ladies as they prepped for the day.  They were the picture of ease, as they sat around sipping juice and sharing stories.  Lacey slipped into her stunning lace gown (Lacey wore lace!), as her mother fought back happy tears.  We got a few shots of Lacey in her dress, then went back to their home for the First Look.

You could feel the love, as Evan saw his bride-to-be for the very first time in her wedding dress.  Lacey presented him with a gift (his first watch in years!), and they headed to the backyard for photos.  After a brief creative session with the family and bridal party, we drove over to the MacLaren Art Centre for the ceremony.

The ceremony was short and sweet.  Lacey surprised Evan with a slight change to the vows (“Through good times and renovations”), which delighted him and the crowd.  They said their vows, kissed and were declared to be husband and wife by their super cool, motorcycle-driving, bearded officiant. They exited the room and were met with hugs from their loved ones.

Then, it was time for the staff to transform the room, while the guests enjoyed cocktails in the level below.  We brought the newlyweds and their bridal party outside the venue (and in the courtyard) for more photos.  Once the reception hall was ready, we went upstairs to survey the room.

Then it was time for the reception, complete with a grand entrance, heart-felt speeches and a delicious dinner.  Evan + Lacey cut the cupcake with the same knife used at her grandmother’s wedding.  Then, it was time for their first dance.  To keep the dance party going, Evan grabbed his mother and they shared a dance together. Then, Lacey and her father cut a rug to a choreographed routine of “Good Golly Miss Molly.”

Congratulations Evan + Lacey! Thank you for inviting us to capture your wedding day. We had so much fun! We can hardly wait for your Rock The Dress session!
