Mélanie + Jean-Marc | Wedding Photography Fusion in Ottawa, ON

In April 2011, we decided to incorporate Fusion into our photography collections. Our very first Fusion Film (Photography with Cinematic elements) was of the lovely Laura + Dusan.

We met Mélanie + JM at that wedding. Mélanie + JM are friends of Laura + Dusan. Melanie, actually, was the flautist for the ceremony. We got the chance to chat with her briefly, and she fell in love with the idea of Fusion. A couple of months later, she asked if we would be interested in traveling to Ottawa to capture their wedding. We jumped at the idea! We love to travel, so were thrilled about the chance to venture out to the capital city for a wedding.

We loaded up our car on Friday and headed out to Ottawa. Once we arrived, we met up with Mélanie + JM to see the venue in St. Albert, ON. They just finished decorating the hall, and were gearing up for a softball game with their friends before the big day. The next day, we got the entire team out for a softball game. Suits, dresses, baseball mitts and all. Everyone had a great time running the bases, tossing the ball around, and heckling the pitcher.

Earlier in the day, we met up with JM and his groomsmen at their home in Ottawa. Many of whom attended (or were in) the wedding of Laura + Dusan. It was great to see everyone again!! JM presented his groomsmen with superhero cufflinks, t-shirts (to wear underneath their suits, so that if they had to fight crime, they would be appropriately attired) and shot glasses.

We, then, drove over to Mélanie’s parent’s to meet her and the ladies. She put on her gorgeous wedding gown and accessories, then shared her touching, personal vows with us in French. Beautiful.

The ceremony and reception both took place right outside of Ottawa, ON. The ceremony was held at an enormous church in the tiny town of Embrun, ON. The reception was at the St. Albert Community Centre in St. Albert, ON. The theme was music and computers.

The grand entrance was incredible! The DJ announced the bridal party, then they got up onstage to perform a surprise concert for the guests. As was previously mentioned, Mélanie is a flautist, so many of her friends are talented musicians. JM is a talented RockBand guitarist, so they serenaded the room with the Rockband version of Queen’s “You’re My Best Friend.” It was a creative and amazing musical number!

Another surprise of the evening was for JM. He wanted a special Game of Thrones sword, but didn’t think he would be able to purchase it. So, Mélanie decided to give it to him as a gift. They presented the sword, knighted him and they used it to cut the cake!!! Cool!

It was such a fun day! Thank you Mélanie + JM for inviting us to Ottawa, ON to capture your wedding! We wish you both all the best!
